Done!

I got the attic done. I had two friends pick  up the empty totes. I ended up with 5 bags of stuff for the thrift store and 7 bags of garbage. It feels like a relief, to not have all that stuff- too bad garbage pick up isn't until later this week. I am stuck looking at the bags in front of the garage until then.
Jon and I took the two foster kids to the Northwest Railway museum. It's locTed in the town of Snoqualmie. It only takes maybe 25 minutes to drive there. They have several types of trains for people to look at. They are enclosed behind fencing, but they do have some you can climb into. The kids had a great time. They love trains. It was partially sunny, which was a nice change. I also walked them down to see the river. I had my camera, but the batteries died. The water a beautiful shade of blue- gray. It was also running high and fast. In April, the train museum has a train run to North Bend- Snoqualmie Falls. I am going to take them on it. The older one did pretty well listening and following directions. The younger one I had harnessed, as he likes to take off and run. He enjoyed looking at the new things. Both of the kids were asleep before 730, the fresh air was good for them.
Andrew and Ryan went camping with their troop to Fort Warden. It was sunny almost the whole weekend. They had a good time too. I made roast beef with potatoes, rice and salad. All the boys said it hit the spot.
This week, I'm going to try to get into the garage and purge my hanging shelves. That's my goal for this week...

Attic clean up update

I am almost done. I went thru all of the totes, and went thru some a second time.
Here is what I have emptied

Notice the tall brown sack? Yeah, it's full of papers. I have filled 4(?) garbage bags.
I have a second brown bag that is 1/4 full, and another garbage bag that is on it's way to filling up.

The papers on top of the tub are for shredding. My foster kiddo loved shredding the papers earlier, so hey, why not? He shreds as I sort.

The boys bedroom floor is visible.
Tomorrow, Jon and I will put the totes back in the attic. The empty ones I will be re-homing.
I will keep some to hold decorations. I know I will not need ALL of them. In fact, I know I have four more big empty totes in the attic.
It's almost 1030 pm here, and that is way past my bedtime..

The boys helped me with the totes.

Wait, and more..

So far, I have 3 bags for donation, 2 throw-away, and a bag for recycles.

These are the empty totes.. Not pictured above

I'm hoping for good progress today...

Birthdays

Tomorrow we celebrate two birthdays.
A 13 year old ( where did the time go) and a five year old.
Tomorrow my kids have scouts and a service project, so we started celebrating a day early. Tonight we went to Red Robin. The foster kids had a great time.
I decorated the house, one of the older boys helped me.

This is hanging outside the foster kids door. The older boy should be quite excited when he sees the house decorated.

I have his gifts locked in my car trunk. He will get those tomorrow afternoon. I bought cupcakes for him to take to daycare. I am off at 1 pm to celebrate my kids' birthday.

This week

So, I was able to complete the hooked rug. It is done.
Friday I was off work, but spent the day running kids around to various doctor appointments. Later that afternoon I did mow the front yard.
Saturday, I spent tinkering around the house. It was cloudy but not too chilly, I washed some bedding and hung it out to dry.
I am hoping that the weather begins to warm up/dry out this week. We have already received 6.91 inches of rain this month. My back yard reminds me of a bog. Saturday I picked up a planter to move it and found 5 different tree frogs.
This week I need to make a to do list of house repairs. My husband is considering looking into jobs in Eastern Washington, so we may be moving this summer. I hate moving. If my hubby finds a job, then I go where he goes. My 14 year old said as long as he can get a dirt bike ( aka motorcycle) or a quad he would be happy. All the boys say if possible, they would like a work shop. It would be interesting to see how all of the boys ( hubby included) would go about organizing it. I think, to keep my sanity, I will just avoid that area.
This Saturday my kids have scouting for food pick up, and later that day their troop has a spaghetti dinner. I will be cooking noodles at home and then will be dropping them off at the church. I wont be going this year, but that is only because one of my foster kids does not do well with a lot of stimulation. So, for my sanity, I try to limit that.
Tomorrow we will be going out to Red Robin to celebrate Andrew's and the fk's bday. They have the same birthday. Andrew will be 13, and the foster child will be 5. He is super excited for his birthday. I got him a bicycle, some Thomas the train figures, and some sticker books.
Off to bed I go, as this is late for me...

Goals for this week

I have several goals for this week.
1. Finish the latch hook rug for my nephews birthday.
2. Finish and hang my St Pattys banner.
3. Make some felt letters for my felt board that my one FK enjoying playing with
4. Organize my craft things.

I'm off this Friday, but the kids have doctors appointments that day.
This past week has been a struggle, the youngest FK has had a nasty cold, which turned into a double ear infection. Go figure. When he is missing naps 3 days a week, ask me if I am surprised. The day care is not impressed with the visiting supervisor either. They said they already contacted the social worker.
This month we have two birthdays to celebrate, and they are both on the same day.
I already know what I want to get the boys, I just need to go purchase it.

St party's Banner

I love banners.
After looking at Pinterest, I figured I'd make my own.

My cat thought she'd check it out

Once it's put together I'll post it :)
